Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education:Â Candidates should have completion of grade 12
Experience: Candidates should have experience operating a CVOR vehicle for more than 3 years
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be capable of considerable physical effort, agility, and possess the skill and ability to perform the duties listed
- The candidates should be physically fit and able to complete labor-intensive work, including heavy lifting
- The candidates should be available and able to work shifts, including weekends, nights, with a crew and independently with minimal supervision and provide a clean driver’s abstract and CVOR (dated within 30 days) at the time of a conditional job offer
- The candidates should have the ability to adapt to and train for new technology developments and software products in a continuous improvement work model and work in adverse road and weather conditions
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have demonstrated road maintenance and concrete experience and training related to the duties and programs, typically gained through a combination of education and relevant work experience
- The candidates should have general knowledge of construction practices and techniques and knowledge of relevant legislation such as the Occupational Health and Safety Act, W.H.M.I.S. regulations, the 70 Hour Regulation, Book 7 Traffic Control, and Minimum Maintenance Standards
- The candidates should have excellent customer service skills and the ability to follow both written and verbal instructions
- The candidates should have working knowledge and computer skills utilizing web-based search engines, tablets, smartphones, GPS tools, and Windows functions
- The candidates should be able to understand and follow detailed procedures and instructions, accurately completing various logs, documents, inspection forms, and other administrative information
- The candidates should possess a valid Class D license with a Z endorsement in good standing
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to perform road repairs such as skin patching, potholes, overlays, and road cuts and perform manual labor, including shoveling and using hand tools
- The candidates should be able to set up and tear down traffic control measures, including flagging and perform concrete repairs, including sidewalk and curb replacement and repair
- The candidates should be able to perform ground restoration repairs, including utility cuts and pick up litter, bulk items, and debris from work areas and respond to accidents or incidents, including setting up barricades and cleaning up debris
- The candidates should be able to maintain culverts and ditches, ensuring proper drainage and inspect drainage systems, such as dikes and hot spots
- The candidates should be able to perform winter maintenance tasks and monitor river readings to assess flood risk and take appropriate action
- The candidates should be able to operate various equipment, including loaders, snow plows with wings, trackless tractors, and snow blowers
- The candidates should be able to perform snow removal and material application on roadways, sidewalks, and pathways
- The candidates should be able to perform laboring duties, such as shoveling and material applications on sidewalks
- The candidates should be able to perform other duties as assigned that are directly related to the major responsibilities of the job
