Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completed secondary school plus two years of medical office assistant training
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of two years of experience in a health care setting

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should maintain confidentiality at all times and demonstrate tact and discretion when handling inquiries and assisting patients who may be unwell
  • The candidates should have the ability to ask questions to determine the needs of individuals while exercising discretion and good judgment
  • The candidates should be familiar with medical terminology and medical insurance regulations and work effectively both independently and as a team member
  • The candidates should be able to multi-task with constant interruptions while maintaining a high degree of accuracy in a demanding environment

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills to handle daily activities with good judgment, initiative, and resourcefulness
  • The candidates should have an equivalent combination of education and experience and experience working with electronic medical records
  • The candidates should have knowledge of medical and pharmacology terminology, as well as experience with medical billing and ASIST training

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to arrange medical and counselling appointments for a large group practice of physicians and counsellors and handle medical inquiries of a personal and confidential nature
  • The candidates should be able to perform patient database maintenance to ensure all client demographics and medical insurance information are accurate and up to date
  • The candidates should be able to provide information on Health and Counselling Services programs and services
  • The candidates should be able to provide backup support in the accounts office and assist in developing new administrative processes and procedures
