Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a valid Plumber Journeyman License for the Province of Ontario
Experience: Candidates should have minimum of 5 years of experience including the apprenticeship-training program which consists of on-the-job or work experience of 8,280 hours and 720 hours of in-school training

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should have the ability to work effectively both individually and as part of a diverse team
  • The candidates should have a creative approach to solving problems
  • The candidates should be able to read and interpret drawings and manuals related to job functions

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have in-depth knowledge of the Ontario Building Code and computers
  • The candidates should be familiar with the National Building Code
  • The candidates should be proficient in interpreting blueprints, schematic diagrams, and shop drawings
  • The candidates should be able to understand and use manufacturer’s installation, maintenance materials and Ontario Plumbing Code
  • The candidates should have experience with FMP (Facilities Management Professional) computerized maintenance systems
  • The candidates should have skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with coworkers
  • The candidates should have the ability to read and write in English proficiently
  • The candidates should have a strong ability to follow through and carry out assignments to completion
  • The candidates should have knowledge of the hazards involved in work and the safety measures to be taken
  • The candidates should preferably have an aptitude for science and mathematics
  • The candidates should understand FMP Policies and Procedures

Responsibilities:

  • The candidate should be able to install, assemble, maintain, repair, and troubleshoot pipes, fittings, or fixtures for heating or cooling, water, or drainage systems according to specifications or standards and plumbing codes in Ontario
  • The candidate should be able to comply with the health and safety procedures and guidelines
