Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of five years of experience in the relevant field
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should have the ability to read and interpret drawings and manuals related to job functions and the ability to work effectively both individually and as part of a diverse team
- The candidates should have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers and the ability to follow through and carry out assignments efficiently
- The candidates should have a creative approach to problem-solving and the ability to read and write in English
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have knowledge of the Ontario Building Code, Ontario Plumbing Code, and the National Building Code
- The candidates should have skills in interpreting blueprints, schematic diagrams, shop drawings, and manufacturer’s installation and maintenance materials
- The candidates should have a working knowledge of computers, with experience in the FMP computerized maintenance system
- The candidates should have knowledge of hazards involved with work and the necessary safety measures to be taken and an aptitude for science and mathematics
- The candidates should have knowledge of FMP Policies and Procedures and a valid Plumber Journeyman License for the Province of Ontario or an equivalent qualification
- The candidates should have including an apprenticeship training program consisting of 8,280 hours of on-the-job work experience and 720 hours of in-school training
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to install, assemble, maintain, repair, and troubleshoot pipes, fittings, and fixtures for heating, cooling, water, and drainage systems in accordance with specifications and plumbing codes in Ontario
- The candidates should be able to work under the supervision of the Manager, Mechanical Services, ensuring that all plumbing-related tasks are completed efficiently and to the required standards
- The candidates should be able to interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications to determine the layout and installation of plumbing systems
- The candidates should be able to comply with all health and safety procedures and guidelines provided, ensuring a safe working environment for themselves and others
- The candidates should be able to conduct inspections and tests on plumbing systems to identify issues and ensure proper functionality and use hand and power tools required for plumbing work, following proper handling and maintenance procedures
- The candidates should be able to collaborate with other tradespeople, contractors, and team members to complete installation and repair projects efficiently
- The candidates should be able to maintain accurate records of work performed, including repairs, maintenance, and parts used
- The candidates should be able to stay up to date with changes in plumbing codes, standards, and best practices to ensure compliance and efficiency
- The candidates should be able to respond promptly to emergency plumbing issues, diagnosing and resolving problems effectively
