Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education:Â Candidates should have completion of a high school diploma
Experience: Candidates should have experience as a boilermaker or ironworker
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have General Equivalence Diploma (GED) and have a valid driver’s license
- The candidates should preferentially possess a journeyman welder or commercial driver’s license
- The candidates should have experience with heavy metal fabrication or welding and strong problem-solving and computer skills
- The candidates should be able to work within strict established safety and work guidelines or rules to complete the job
- The candidates should possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
- The candidates should undergo a criminal history check, education verification and driver’s license verification
- The candidates should acknowledge CPKC’s commitment to protecting its people, customers, communities, environment, and assets, along with maintaining a healthy and safe workplace

Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to repair, maintain, and inspect freight car equipment in a safe and efficient manner
- The candidates should be able to perform all preventative maintenance work and repairs on trucks, underframe, structure, safety appliances, braking systems, draft systems, and conduct associated tests
- The candidates should be able to perform all tasks associated with rush repairs, road work, and supplementary service operation of equipment
- The candidates should be able to repair and apply all associated piping and valves, guards, shrouds, covers, and conduct cutting, burning, welding, grinding, soldering, and brazing associated with the removal or application of components
