Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the French and English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a current B.C.L.S. (CPR) certificate
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be able to monitor, assess, and document mental health and substance-related disorders, trauma-responsive behaviors, mental status and physical health assessments, and client responses to pharmaceutical interventions
  • The candidates should be motivated to develop knowledge and skills in trauma-informed care, culturally competent care, crisis intervention, mental health and addiction diagnoses, and treatment modalities
  • The candidates should be motivated to develop group facilitation skills and demonstrate competency in practicing Patient and Family-Centered Care in daily work
  • The candidates should be available to work 12-hour shifts, including days, nights, and some weekends, at the Queen Street Site

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills with clients, families, and the interdisciplinary team
  • The candidates should be registered in good standing as an RPN with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • The candidates should have  and psychiatric nursing experience with individuals with mental illness and addictions
  • The candidates should have effective leadership, decision-making, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • The candidates should have computer literacy and bilingualism (French and English) and proficiency in a second language

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to use evidence-based, standardized assessment and pharmacological protocols to accurately assess and monitor client progress
  • The candidates should be able to administer medications safely via IV, perform wound care, and prevent further physical destabilization of client health
  • The candidates should be able to utilize motivational interviewing skills to support clients in developing goals and practicing strategies that aid in early recovery
  • The candidates should be able to collaborate with the interprofessional team to develop, implement, and evaluate plans of care for clients
  • The candidates should be able to participate in reflective practice, mentorship, and supervision of students to enhance professional development
  • The candidates should be able to engage in leadership and career development activities while fostering a diverse and team-oriented workplace
  • The candidates should be able to ensure safe nursing practice in alignment with the Practice Standards (CNO) and Canadian Standards of Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing (CFMHN)
  • The candidates should be able to actively participate in a supportive orientation process, including training provided by the Advanced Practice Clinical Leader and Nurse Educator
