Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completed Grade 12
Experience: Candidates should have three years of working experience in a busy and high-volume clinic

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be able to bend, twist, stretch, lift, sit, and stand on a regular basis
  • The candidates should be prepared for exposure to communicable diseases due to client contact and ability to focus on listening for extended periods of time
  • The candidates should be able to manage a lack of control over work volume and pace, with concentrated attention to detail for prolonged periods and frequent interruptions
  • The candidates should be capable of interacting with frightened, emotionally distraught, angry, or stressed patients

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have knowledge of general office procedures to work effectively as part of the Clinic team
  • The candidates should be familiar with electronic equipment such as computers, fax, and photocopy machines, and possess the ability to operate them
  • The candidates should have strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills to maintain a professional manner in all situations and self-direct and organize work with minimal supervision
  • The candidates should have time management skills to complete tasks in order of importance while dealing with competing priorities
  • The candidates should have written communication skills to maintain patient records and understand how this affects the delivery of healthcare to ensure sensitivity to patient
  • The candidates should know confidentiality protocols and have the ability to apply them to ensure patient and other information is kept confidential
  • The candidates should be able to acquire knowledge of the geographic and cultural needs of patients
  • The candidates should have records management coursework and medical terminology coursework

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to greet clients in person and on the telephone, providing a welcoming and professional initial point of contact and answer, screen, and transfer calls, ensuring efficient communication flow
  • The candidates should be able to assess each call or request, relay messages and information accurately, and follow up
  • The candidates should be able to relay pertinent information to staff or Physicians, coordinating with other departments or Health Centers
  • The candidates should be able to carry out follow-up procedures to track health concerns, ensuring deadlines are met and decisions are implemented
  • The candidates should be able to contact clients for follow-up and appointment cancellations, managing schedules effectively
  • The candidates should be able to act as an interpreter for visitors to the Health Centre, facilitating clear communication
  • The candidates should be able to maintain a list of specialist appointments, complete required administrative procedures, and ensure timely follow-ups
  • The candidates should be able to identify matters of priority for the Physician, NIC, and Community Health Nurses, receiving instructions and acting promptly
  • The candidates should be able to maintain security and confidentiality in client interactions and other dealings within the Health Centre environment
  • The candidates should be able to ensure the Fort Liard Health Centre reflects a positive and professional image through effective communication and adherence to protocols, policies, and procedures
