Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should have an interest and ability to provide instruction in core academic subjects (reading, writing, mathematics) to special needs/additional needs students at various grade levels
  • The candidates should have an interest and ability to work with students with special and a basic understanding of teaching, instruction, and classroom management techniques
  • The candidates should have an interest and ability to work in a multi-cultural setting with young people, staff, and parents
  • The candidates should be dependable, self-motivated, demonstrate sound work ethics, and act as a role model for students

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have strong analytical, planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • The candidates should possess effective verbal, written, and listening communication skills and knowledge of conflict management and resolution skills and write and maintain accurate student records
  • The candidates should have required knowledge and skills through completion of Grade 12, combined with related training in working with special needs students and experience in an educational environment

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to assist with instruction, providing support and encouragement to students diagnosed with special needs or those requiring additional attention
  • The candidates should be able to ensure all students have the opportunity for a successful and meaningful learning experience
  • The candidates should be able to work under the discretion of the Principal and may report to the Principal, Program Support Teacher, and Classroom Teachers
