Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates don’t need standard educational qualifications
Experience: Candidates should have 3 years of experience operating a screed
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should exercise sound judgment, work safely, and communicate effectively in a team
- The candidates should be physically capable of performing tasks that involve crouching, bending, lifting, and kneeling
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should possess a valid Class 5 Driver’s License
- The candidates should have knowledge of City of Edmonton Specifications and ability to read survey markings
- The candidates should have knowledge of the City of Edmonton and surrounding area and mechanically inclined
- The candidates should be able to pass a pre-employment medical clearance
- The candidates should have a proven record of following safe work procedures and completing field risk assessments
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to be fully trained in the operations and capability of the screed on a paver
- The candidates should be able to perform repair and maintenance on the paver under the direction of the plant foreman or lead hand
- The candidates should be able to handle considerable physical activity, including heavy lifting, bending, and twisting
- The candidates should be able to assist with a variety of job operations and work as part of a team to operate the paver
- The candidates should be able to ensure the safety of company personnel, the community, and the environment
- The candidates should be able to monitor and ensure accurate thickness of asphalt during operations
- The candidates should be able to monitor material production to ensure it meets specifications
- The candidates should be able to ensure consistent feed to maintain a quality product and complete daily equipment checklists responsibly
