Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should have the ability to participate in the planning and presentation, including public speaking and instruction, of library programs and projects
  • The candidates should have the ability to plan, organize, and carry out assigned duties and responsibilities with supervision
  • The candidates should have the ability to participate in the maintenance of the library collection

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have considerable knowledge of library methods, procedures, and tools applicable to the work
  • The candidates should have a working knowledge of the objectives, organization, procedures, services, and resources of the Library
  • The candidates should have the ability to pleasantly and effectively deliver children’s programs and services
  • The candidates should possess excellent oral and written communication skills and demonstrate pleasant and effective customer service skills

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to work collaboratively within their team and system-wide to create a welcoming, patron-centered experience through involvement in the design, planning, and delivery of responsive information services and a variety of library and literacy programs
  • The candidates should be able to assist in the planning of programming for children, teens, and adults under the guidance of a librarian
  • The candidates should be able to deliver programs for children, teens, and adults effectively
  • The candidates should be able to provide instruction and support to the public on the use of digital devices such as e-readers to access library resources
  • The candidates should be able to understand and practice community-led approaches and represent the Library’s vision, mission, and values by demonstrating and modeling conduct that reflects the library’s policies and procedures
