Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have minimum three (3) year Diploma in Respiratory Therapy with professional certification or equivalent as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
Experience: Candidates should have minimum of five (5) year experience as a Respiratory Therapist in an acute care facility, which preferably includes oversight of equipment maintenance and repairs, software applications in a laboratory setting and inventory monitoring and simulation-based learning

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have CPR, WHMIS, and First Aid certified with current credentials throughout tenure
  • The candidates should possess excellent interpersonal skills
  • The candidates should have strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • The candidates should have well-developed verbal and writing skills to effectively communicate with staff and students

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to provide oversight for all laboratory supplies and equipment
  • The candidates should be able to maintain laboratory schedules
  • The candidates should be able to set up and tear down laboratory sessions
  • The candidates should be able to orient professors in the usage of laboratory equipment
  • The candidates should be able to collaborate with professors in respiratory therapy simulation-based learning activities
  • The candidates should be able to support technical instruction to students
  • The candidates should be able to maintain equipment inventory
  • The candidates should be able to maintain, repair, and provide technical advice and record of purchase/ordering of all equipment related to the Respiratory Therapy, Cardiovascular Technology, and Sonography programs
  • The candidates should be able to maintain and order disposable inventory for all programs
  • The candidates should be able to perform annual inventory of equipment and supplies according to established College procedures
  • The candidates should be able to verify the budget and report discrepancies to the Chair
  • The candidates should be able to collaborate with faculty throughout laboratory sessions, including simulation-based learning, to assist students in developing required skills and competencies and in interpreting technical results and measurements
  • The candidates should be able to collaborate with faculty and technologists in new simulation-based learning activities, ensuring consistency across programs
  • The candidates should be able to maintain orderliness and cleanliness and coordinate the use of both the laboratory and classroom facilities for the Respiratory Therapy, Cardiovascular Technology, and Sonography programs, while maintaining a safe work environment as per the Occupational Health and Safety Act and other established Health and Safety Guidelines
  • The candidates should be able to maintain laboratory schedules
  • The candidates should be able to select, prepare, and assemble the proper apparatus and materials for all lab sessions
  • The candidates should be able to assist in Respiratory Therapy simulation scenarios and evaluate students performing the scenarios
  • The candidates should be able to guide, test, and instruct in the proper and safe use of all Respiratory Therapy equipment and associated simulation equipment
  • The candidates should be able to demonstrate the use of new equipment and establish and conduct preventive equipment maintenance
  • The candidates should be able to orient new and part-time faculty to laboratory procedures and assist them in finding equipment and resources for their courses and day-to-day functions
  • The candidates should be able to perform other related duties as assigned
