Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of High School diploma
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be able to work as a valuable member of a team and at least 18 years of age
  • The candidates should be prepared to complete a pre-employment medical assessment, including physical, vision, hearing, alcohol, and drug audit assessments, for safety-sensitive positions

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should possess a GED, a valid driver’s license and valid Class 3 license, CL4, CL3 or Air, CL2 and CL1 or Air
  • The candidates should demonstrate a safety-oriented work ethic supported by experience within the labour industry
  • The candidates should have the ability to follow instructions and adhere to rules and regulations and good written and verbal communication or comprehension skills
  • The candidates should undergo a criminal history check, education verification and driver’s license verification
  • The candidates should understand that operating safely is a core foundation of CPKC and aware that pre-employment qualification drug tests are mandatory

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to pull track spikes as part of their duties
  • The candidates should be able to apply rail anchors and work outdoors in all weather conditions, including rain, direct sunlight, and snow
  • The candidates should be able to work away from home, with accommodations and meal allowances provided
  • The candidates should be able to understand that work may be seasonal, and there could be layoffs at the end of the work season
  • The candidates should be able to respond to calls for work based on seniority for the next work season
  • The candidates should be able to prioritize safety, especially in a high-risk environment where heavy moving equipment is present and perform repetitive tasks efficiently and bend and lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis
  • The candidates should be able to remain focused at all times and demonstrate willingness to work in a team environment
  • The candidates should be able to follow a typical schedule of 8 days on and 6 days off, with potential for schedule changes based on operational needs
