Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be prepared to travel throughout the Region and work effectively as part of a team
- The candidates should be able to lift or move objects weighing 10 to 25 lbs regularly, and occasionally lift or move objects over 50 lbs
- The candidates should be able to work both inside and outside, sometimes in adverse weather conditions
- The candidates should be able to report to the work location within one half hour of notification of after-duty call
- The candidates should have the ability to troubleshoot and solve problems and capable of independently managing time and tasks
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should possess a valid 4th Class Power Engineer certificate recognized in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador
- The candidates should have experience in the operation and maintenance of a high-pressure process steam, heating plant, facility and related auxiliary equipment
- The candidates should have knowledge in the operation and maintenance of a high-pressure process steam, heating plant, facility and related auxiliary equipment
- The candidates should be familiar with Occupational Health and Safety regulations and safe work practices
- The candidates should hold a valid Province of Newfoundland and Labrador Class 05 license and provide a current Driver’s Abstract suitable to the Employer
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to provide advanced, skilled mechanical/plumbing work at the full journey person level in the installation, maintenance, and repair of 3 main boilers and the facility heating system at the Gander Campus and other buildings in the Gander area
- The candidates should be able to maintain mechanical or plumbing systems, equipment, and fixtures in accordance with approved codes, trade practices, and in compliance with facility policies
- The candidates should be able to work across several building trades in conjunction with other maintenance staff and occupants, and may work with other employees or contractors on site as circumstances demand
- The candidates should be able to read and interpret blueprints and drawings to ensure accurate and effective maintenance and repair work
- The candidates should be able to liaise with facility management to ensure compliance with procedures and address any issues that arise
- The candidates should be able to perform snow clearing, lawn maintenance, and other related work
- The candidates should be able to work closely with the installation of Bio Mass Boilers and act as a liaison between the Building Manager and Contractors in the area
