Transportation information: Long-haul, national, provincial/territorial, regional
Documentation knowledge: Accident or incident reports, driver logbook, inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip), maintenance and repair reports, trip reports

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates don’t need standard educational qualification such as degree, certificate or diploma
Experience: Candidates don’t need experience although having experience is an asset
Communication systems experience:
Operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment
Equipment and machinery experience: Tractor-trailer
Credentials: AZ class license
Security and safety: Bondable, criminal record check, driver’s validity licence check, driving record check (abstract), drug test, medical exam

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should have attention to detail, be capable of handling heavy loads, and manage a large workload
  • The candidates should be willing to work overtime when required, be comfortable sitting for extended periods, and be capable of weight handling, up to 9 kg (20 lbs)

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have efficient interpersonal skills, demonstrate flexibility, and exercise good judgment
  • The candidates should be organized, demonstrate reliability, and be a team player

Candidate Status:

  • Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
  • Candidate must have legal authorization (Work Permit) to work in Canada

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to have mountain driving expertise, drive lighter, special purpose trucks, and load and unload goods
  • The candidates should be able to operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials, oversee the condition of the vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage, and other equipment, and perform brake adjustments
  • The candidates should be able to perform emergency roadside repairs, perform pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of the vehicle, and perform preventive maintenance
  • The candidates should be able to receive and relay information to central dispatch, record cargo information, hours of service, distance traveled, and fuel consumption, and tarp and ensure the safety and security of cargo
