Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education:Â Candidates should have completion of completed OSSD
Experience: Candidates should have 4 to 5 years of work experience in heavy equipment repair, specifically mining equipment
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be willing to work alternative shifts and supply their own mechanic tools
- The candidates should have the strength and stamina required to work with heavy equipment, including lifting objects of various shapes up to 75 lbs
- The candidates should demonstrate the ability to work alone or as part of a team
- The candidates should be able to work well under pressure while maintaining effectiveness and self control
- The candidates should have the ability to think logically and keep up with changes in technology
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have completed or GED, a certified journeyperson and demonstrate prompt daily attendance at assigned schedules
- The candidates should possess mechanical ability and an interest in all types of machinery, engines, electronics, and precision equipment
- The candidates should cooperate with others and work toward consensual solutions to achieve the group’s effectiveness
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to perform preventative maintenance and repairs on heavy trucks and service vehicles, ensuring they operate efficiently
- The candidates should be able to inspect graders and other mining equipment for proper performance, detecting faults and malfunctions promptly
- The candidates should be able to clean, lubricate, and perform routine maintenance on equipment to extend its operational lifespan
- The candidates should be able to diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment, determining the necessary repairs
- The candidates should be able to adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components, or systems using hand and power tools
- The candidates should be able to replace vehicle engines, steering mechanisms, transmissions, and braking systems, ensuring all mobile equipment functions optimally
- The candidates should be able to check vehicle lighting systems, ensuring they meet safety standards and test repaired equipment for proper performance, ensuring all work meets manufacturers’ specifications
- The candidates should be able to read and understand operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings to facilitate accurate repairs and adhere to inspection procedure checklists (Audits, PM’s, Pre-Ops, and Post-Ops) to maintain equipment reliability
- The candidates should be able to create work orders, locate parts, and complete parts lists in work orders using available resources independently and ensure the cleanliness of the shop, maintaining a safe and organized work environment
