Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completed Grade 10
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be proven to work well in a team environment

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have completed a recognized pre-apprenticeship training course in a mechanic-related trade
  • The candidates should possess some knowledge of the hazards and proper safety aspects of vehicle maintenance and servicing and thorough knowledge of braking systems
  • The candidates should have some knowledge of the use and care of tools, materials, and equipment used in vehicle maintenance and servicing
  • The candidates should demonstrate excellent organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • The candidates should possess agility, muscular coordination, and sufficient strength to perform heavy manual labor
  • The candidates should be able to obtain enhanced security clearance, which requires the absence of any criminal charges or convictions related to the position
  • The candidates should hold a current and valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License or higher and have a satisfactory National Safety Code driving record 5 years of accumulation with no more than 9 points, not in excess of 3 points per single year and 3 years of accumulation with no more than 1 preventable work-related driving or equipment operating accident in any single year
  • The candidates should attach Commercial Driving Records Abstract (N Print) for the past 3 years (no more than 14 days prior to the posting) and Insurance and Claims History for the past 5 years (no more than 14 days prior to the posting)

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to perform servicing, minor repairs, and fueling of vehicles either in the shop or in the field as instructed
  • The candidates should be able to clean the shop, vehicles, equipment, and car wash as directed, ensuring a tidy and operational environment
  • The candidates should be able to enter real-time data into the Fleet and Manufacturing Services’ electronic fleet management system to track fleet maintenance accurately
  • The candidates should be able to work in accordance with prescribed schedules and quality standards after receiving initial instructions from the supervisor
  • The candidates should be able to work an 8-hour shift, including a paid meal break, with the current hours of work from 6:30 AM to 2:30 PM, Thursday to Monday
  • The candidates should be able to work shift work, including weekend days, afternoons, and graveyard shifts, with the ability to adjust shifts and locations as needed based on operational requirements
