Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should recognize that a shortage of budget forecast could result in the loss of personnel, equipment, and laboratory supplies, making attention to detail and accuracy crucial

Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to perform core accounting functions, budget planning, and forecasting
- The candidates should be able to interpret and monitor financial policies and procedures established at PHCRI, UBC, other affiliated institutions, and granting agencies that affect the use of grant funds, ensuring compliance with Revenue Canada and PHCRI/University regulations
- The candidates should be able to prepare regular, timely reports for the director and principal investigator regarding financial activities, actual vs. budgeted reports using UBC Workday and PHC, PHCRI systems prepare financial reports for directors, orientation and training investigators and staff regarding financial administration of grants and contracts
- The candidates should be able to ensure that expenditures comply with granting agency policies and terms of conditions and keep individual principal investigators up to date on their financial status, assisting them with budget forecasting and management
- The candidates should be able to prepare financial and budgetary reports for the Finance Manager, analyze financial statements, and reconcile UBC, PHC, PHCRI and Foundation accounts
- The candidates should be able to participate in evaluating and making recommendations for cost reductions within the unit
- The candidates should be able to remain conversant with new accounting procedures and legislation, reporting any new procedures to the Senior Manager
- The candidates should be able to manage the overall receiving and processing of invoices and cheques, as well as opening, closing new accounts and may arise from research operations, including proactively avoiding deficits and implementing mitigation strategies if they occur
- The candidates should be able to maintain all financial records and prepare the financial information needed for completion of grant applications
- The candidates should be able to develop efficient methods and procedures and provide support to the PHCRI finance team
