Work Schedule: Days, afternoons and weekends
Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education:Â Candidates should have Arena Operator Level 1 Certification AARFP
Experience: Candidates should have experience in Building Management System (BMS)
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should have experience with general custodial work, including floor scrubbers and hand tools
- The candidates should be able to handle inquiries, feedback, complaints, or concerns professionally and courteously
- The candidates should uphold the City’s mission, vision and values
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should possess current First Aid/CPR certification and WHIMS
- The candidates should demonstrate operational experience with ice resurfacing equipment
- The candidates should exhibit considerable mechanical aptitude for routine checks, minor repairs, troubleshooting, Ringette, Hockey, Lacrosse, and Ball Hockey
- The candidates should have knowledge of policies, procedures, and regulatory acts related to arenas
- The candidates should possess effective oral and written communication skills
- The candidates should demonstrate the ability to develop and sustain cooperative working relationships with staff, contractors and the public
- The candidates should hold a current Class 5 Driver’s License (No GDL)
- The candidates should ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety guidelines and City Health and Safety policies, interact with patrons diplomatically and contractor compliance with Health and Safety policies
- The candidates should have a thorough understanding of emergency procedures and applicable mechanical systems
- The candidates should actively participate in the Recreation and Culture Health and Safety Committee
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to contribute to and participate in activities related to preventative and unscheduled maintenance, environmental health and safety, and other special initiatives, while always providing exceptional patron satisfaction through the delivery of great service
- The candidates should be able to perform general janitorial duties, including daily cleaning of floors, bathrooms, showers, lobby and bleacher areas
- The candidates should be able to handle problem resolution, operations record-keeping, documentation, and public inquiries and concerns while ensuring that facility rules are followed
- The candidates should be able to perform work related to start-up, shutdown, and regular maintenance of arena facilities and work independently with limited supervision
- The candidates should be able to assist staff in equipment diagnosis and provide technical support
- The candidates should be able to maintain relationships with contractors, tradesmen, a safe, clean, functional facility inventory for cleaning supplies and maintenance supplies
- The candidates should be able to work with other team members and assist patron groups in setting up special events when
- The candidates should be able to perform scheduled safety and maintenance checks of the facility and equipment, including various pumps, HVAC units, furnaces, and emergency repairs as directed by the Crossings Leisure Manager
- The candidates should be able to maintain artificial ice surfaces and operate refrigeration equipment, as well as perform minor facility and equipment repairs all tools and cleaning equipment are maintained and serviced regularly
