Government of Nunavut’s Community and Government Services (CGS) Department supports municipal governance and infrastructure across the territory. It provides procurement, asset management, emergency services, and capital planning. CGS manages land administration, facility maintenance, and utilities to support public services. The candidates selected for the vacancy will be required to start the work as soon as possible.

Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French Language
Education:Â Candidates should have completion of graduated from a recognized fire training college
Experience: Candidates should have at least three years of related experience in the fire service
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should be responsible for conducting fire safety inspections within Government of Nunavut (GN), public, and private premises to reduce loss of life, property, and accidental injury by fire through enforcement of relevant acts, codes, and standards
- The candidates should be conduct training programs and courses in firefighting (industrial, municipal, and public) to mitigate fire-related risks and improve response capabilities
- The candidates should be deliver fire education programs by providing instructions to community interest groups and the general public to enhance awareness and preparedness
- The candidates should be conduct investigations to determine the cause of fires, related fatalities or injuries, and property damage, while ascertaining whether the fire resulted from negligence, carelessness, accident, or intentional design
- The candidates should be liaise with Nunavut Government officials, Community Councils, RCMP, Regional Health and Social Services Board, and other agencies to promote public awareness of fire prevention procedures in workplaces, homes, and schools
- The candidates should possess IFSAC and Pro-Board certifications or an equivalent qualification
- The candidates should be able to submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut: Inuktut, English, or French
- The candidates should be fluent in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages, and knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, and Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to report through the Deputy Fire Marshal (DFM) and be functionally and administratively responsible to the Fire Marshal
- The candidates should be able to effectively implement fire safety and fire prevention measures
- The candidates should be able to provide information, advice, and guidance to owners, occupants, employers, employees, contractors, architects, engineers, and the general public regarding the Nunavut Fire Safety Act and Regulations (FSA)
- The candidates should be able to serve as a regional consultant, advisor, and resource person for public and commercial buildings regarding fire and life safety requirements
- The candidates should be able to enforce life safety regulations to create a safe environment while balancing project budgeting considerations
- The candidates should be able to directly impact Government of Nunavut (GN) departments, agencies, the public, and the private sector through fire safety decision-making
