Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 2 years of management experience

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should fulfill the minimum time-in-position requirement (1 year) and performance management code requirements (V2 – Valued Associate, Well Positioned)
  • The candidates should have excellent customer service skills and good communication skills
  • The candidates should have computer experience and strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to provide the Home Depot shopping experience for customers, ensuring they are acknowledged, their project needs are met, complaints are resolved, service is quick and efficient, and the store is properly stocked and coach other associates and department supervisors to use the racetrack to proactively seek and satisfy customers and ensure sufficient scheduling to meet customer demand in all areas of responsibility
  • The candidates should be able to train associates to provide quality customer service and ensure that store events are appropriately scheduled and communicated and ensure all Special Order or Install customers are satisfied with their products or services and place sales associates with the appropriate skills for special order or installs, such as technical background, closing, and follow-up skills
  • The candidates should be able to ensure specialty areas Flooring, Kitchen, Appliance, Millwork and Decor are adequately staffed to meet both scheduled appointments and immediate customer demand, set departmental sales goals and monitor them regularly and drive productivity on the sales floor by balancing the number of associates to customer demand throughout the store, communicate store and Home Depot objectives to associates
  • The candidates should be able to recruit, interview applicants, and make recommendations to the store manager about hiring for open positions, make recommendations to the store manager about terminations, promotions, demotions, new associates’ rate of pay, and associates’ performance-based pay increases
  • The candidates should be able to coach, train, and develop associates by providing both informal on-floor coaching and formal  written evaluation job performance-based feedback and communicate clear career paths for associates and take appropriate actions to minimize turnover in all customer service areas
  • The candidates should be able to prepare, lead, and utilize the Chalk Talk process to communicate store sales, event, and promotional activity (Monthly Playbook) to all store associates, with a particular focus on Customer Service Associates and assess associates’ training needs as they relate to all aspects of sales and customer service, including product, process knowledge, and customer service skills, and implement plans for improvement
  • The candidates should be able to have knowledge of all Home Depot programs and services, including the ability to communicate these programs and services to customers and associates Credit, SF&I, ESPs, Pro Sales, and Tool Rental and train on sales and inventory reports as they relate to Key Performance Indicators for assigned departments and the store and maintain department profitability through report analysis VOC and Store Walk reports identifying trends, defining problems, and developing appropriate responses for assigned departments and the store
  • The candidates should be able to develop and communicate store standards for customer service to associates and develop strategy with the Store Manager and other ASMs to drive store sales and profitability and lead associates, work with peers and the Store Manager to anticipate and solve problems, and plan for upcoming events, seasonal changes and ensure that all daily inspections are completed
  • The candidates should be able to follow up on all safety audit, accident reporting, and investigation issues and take an active role in the execution of safety awareness programs and verify deposits, markdowns, deliveries, time slips and refunds and follow standard operating procedures to open and close the store when scheduled and respond to emergency situations appropriately
  • The candidates should be able to adhere to safety expectations outlined under The Home Depot Canada Environmental Health and Safety Management system element under “Supervisor” and perform other related duties as assigned by the Store Manager
