Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have Graduation with an approved/recognized Doctorate Degree in Clinical Psychology
Experience: Candidates should have Clinical experience in the provision of comprehensive psychological assessment and therapy to individuals, families and groups

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be aware that lifting or physical strength required is less than 10 lbs and a higher than normal level of attentiveness is required when assessing high-risk patients
  • The candidates should anticipate regular sitting, with occasional work in awkward or cramped positions, and standing to facilitate or teach groups
  • The candidates should do Fine finger/precision work when operating a computer, and visual concentration is required during sessions with patients for tasks such as reviewing patient charts/notes, tests, documenting work, and reading or researching information
  • The candidates should have Auditory concentration in sessions with patients to listen attentively, stay alert, and obtain and interpret information correctly

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should possess current and continuing registration or provisional registration with the Newfoundland and Labrador Psychology Board and possess an approved/recognized Master Degree in Clinical Psychology
  • The candidates should have completed graduate coursework and gained supervised experience in mental health and addictions
  • The candidates should have clinical experience in providing comprehensive psychological assessment and therapy to individuals, families, and groups
  • The candidates should exhibit strong communication, program development, evaluation skills and demonstrate the ability to direct, supervise, and mentor students
  • The candidates should possess proven analytical, critical reasoning, collaboration, problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills
  • The candidates should have a demonstrated ability to effectively translate and communicate knowledge in the specialized area of psychology practice to others
  • The candidates should show the ability to work effectively within an interprofessional environment and provide clinical consultation
  • The candidates should have the ability to work autonomously, prioritizing caseloads and client needs and a satisfactory record of work performance and attendance
  • The candidates should have a demonstrated ability to establish and maintain a constructive working rapport with clients
  • The candidates should demonstrate a strong awareness of ethical principles and standards of professional conduct
  • possess an approved/recognized Master Degree in Clinical Psychology
  • The candidates should have possession of a valid Newfoundland and Labrador Class 5 Driver’s License and the use of a private vehicle are conditions of employment

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to engage in the provision of outpatient psychological services on the FACT Teams
  • The candidates should be able to conduct psychological assessments, formulate DSM-5 diagnoses, and implement therapeutic interventions proficiently
  • The candidates should be able to apply psychological knowledge and principles in clinical practices related to crisis management and suicide risk assessments
  • The candidates should be able to actively participate in educational, administrative, and research activities to support the operations of the FACT Team
  • The candidate should be able to provide clinical supervision of doctoral or master’s-level students, along with offering clinical direction and consultation to the interdisciplinary team
  • The candidate should be able to be involved in assessment, consultation, treatment, follow-up, and support of individuals with mental health and addictions needs throughout various mental health and addictions programs, in addition to the core responsibilities
  • The candidates should be able to report to the Program Manager and maintain accountability to the Psychology Professional Practice Consultant for professional integrity and practice issues
