Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as College/CEGEP
Experience: Candidates should have experience of 1 to less than 2 years
Credentials: Certificates, Memberships, Courses, Licenses, Member of the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE), First Aid Certificate, CPR Certificate
Security and safety: Criminal record check, Immunization records, Tuberculosis test, and Vulnerable sector check

Physical Requirements:

• The candidates should be able to perform repetitive tasks efficiently
• The candidates should be comfortable with a combination of sitting, standing, and walking throughout the workday
• The candidates should be capable of bending, crouching, and kneeling as required for the job

Candidate Status:

• Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada

Responsibilities:

• The candidates should be able to assess the children’s development in order to prepare a learning plan tailored to their needs
• The candidates should be able to assist co-workers in housekeeping and cooking duties
• The candidates should be able to develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children
• The candidates should be able to supervise staff, trainees, or volunteers and assist early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children
• The candidates should be able to lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs, and taking children to local points of interest
• The candidates should be able to assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records and encourage children to express creativity through the media of art, dramatic play, music, and physical activity
• The candidates should be able to guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits and maintain daycare equipment and assist in housekeeping and cooking duties
• The candidates should be able to prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods and submit written observations on children to early childhood educators or supervisors
• The candidates should be knowledgeable about licensing regulations and assess the abilities, interests, and needs of children and discuss progress or problems with parents and other staff members
• The candidates should be able to attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children and establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children
• The candidates should be able to plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children and supervise and co-ordinate activities of other early childhood educators and early childhood educator assistants
