Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have experience assessing and verifying information to determine eligibility for a program or services

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be legally entitled to work in Canada and provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search)
  • The candidates should be able to provide satisfactory Child Abuse and Adult Abuse Registry Checks
  • The candidates should have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with the public, program participants, staff, and agencies

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have experience working with people from diverse backgrounds (persons with disabilities, financially and socially disadvantaged individuals, newcomers, different cultures
  • The candidates should have strong organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, work under pressure with accuracy in an environment with competing demands
  • The candidates should have effective problem-solving and conflict management skills, effective verbal communication skills and effective written communication skills
  • The candidates should have the ability to make sound judgment in disbursing public funds and experience interpreting, applying, or explaining legislation, regulations, or policies to others
  • The candidates should have experience using Microsoft Office Applications, particularly Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Outlook and knowledge of different community programs or services

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to function as a member of a case management team responsible for providing Employment and Income Assistance program services
  • The candidates should be able to communicate regularly with clients, agencies, and other stakeholders by telephone, in writing, or in-person
  • The candidates should be able to process and issue benefits in accordance with the Employment and Income Assistance Act, Regulations, and policies
  • The candidates should be able to review, recommend, order, and authorize expenditures for emergency, health, special needs, and home and minor repairs submitted by clients
  • The candidates should be able to enter electronic data for client budgets, pay bills, maintain client confidentiality, and perform other clerical duties
