Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have fabrication experience and the ability to weld in all positions

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be capable of standing for long periods with occasional laying, stooping, and crouching, as well as frequent heavy lifting (up to 50 lb)
  • The candidates should have the ability to work at heights up to 100 feet

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should be a Licensed Industrial Mechanic Millwright (possessing an Ontario Certificate of Qualification #433A)
  • The candidates should have fabrication experience and the ability to weld in all positions
  • The candidates should demonstrate skills/experience with pneumatics and hydraulics
  • The candidates should demonstrate machinery repair, overhaul, and troubleshooting skills with material handling equipment (e.g., conveyors, sorters, AGVs, etc.)
  • The candidates should possess demonstrated equipment troubleshooting skills
  • The candidates should have machine shop experience, rigging experience, and 5S experience
  • The candidates should hold a Certificate of Apprenticeship (Ontario or Canadian equivalent)
  • The candidates should have experience with automated conveyor systems, Beumer Sorter systems, Tire Gantry, and Rite Hite Dock door System
  • The candidates should possess Health & Safety experience (e.g., safety committee experience)
  • The candidates should demonstrate strong skills using MS Office (Excel, Word) or AutoCAD
  • The candidates should have the ability to teach/mentor inexperienced trades or apprentices
  • The candidates should have experience with Maximo CMMS

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to achieve operational goals and ensure ongoing equipment (system) reliability through preventative maintenance, breakdown repairs, overhaul, troubleshooting/analysis, and equipment upgrades
  • The candidates should be able to perform service and preventive and corrective maintenance on all DC equipment following department procedures and trade best practices, working in a safe and effective manner, and adhering to all safety policies
  • The candidates should be able to respond to all equipment breakdowns in a timely manner
  • The candidates should be able to maintain accurate repair parts and work records on the computerized maintenance system (MAXIMO)
  • The candidates should be able to perform repairs with minimal supervision, taking responsibility and making decisions to ensure that the job is completed within time demands
  • The candidates should be able to provide information on equipment and system problems to the maintenance supervisor and provide updates as required, seeing the job to completion within time requirements
  • The candidates should be able to provide accurate repair and troubleshooting information for all work in MAXIMO: time spent, parts used, failure comments, suggestions for corrective repairs or improvements, etc.
  • The candidates should be able to demonstrate flexibility when tasks are reassigned or altered
  • The candidates should be able to follow maintenance quality and standard operating procedures as established
  • The candidates should be able to train and mentor apprentices in mechanical and job-specific skills
  • The candidates should be able to perform other duties as assigned
