Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of 12th school grade
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should have the ability to carry out routine tasks with minimal supervision
- The candidates should have the ability to effectively use handheld radios, computers, and computer programs
- The candidates should have the ability to lift and carry heavy, bulky objects up to 40 lbs, such as hoses, bags of feed and supplies, and large animals
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have sound experience working with animals, including difficult animals, or an equivalent combination of training and experience
- The candidates should have certification from a recognized Veterinary Assistant program and ability to deal courteously and effectively with the public
- The candidates should have a current and valid BC Driver’s License without restrictions affecting job responsibilities
- The candidates should have sound knowledge of methods, practices, and procedures for animal care and well-being
- The candidates should have sound knowledge of procedures, rules, and regulations related to the work
- The candidates should have sound knowledge of common medications and their applications in veterinary practice
- The candidates should have sound knowledge of medical treatments for injured or ill animals, including preventative and post-operative care
- The candidates should have sound knowledge and ability in dog behavior and training methods, including handling aggressive animals
- The candidates should have the ability to work with all employees and interact as part of a team environment
