Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of Grade 12
Experience: Candidates should have experience in a customer service environment

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be able to plan, organize, and carry out assigned duties and responsibilities
  • The candidates should be able to perform routine tasks with a high degree of physical stamina and accuracy
  • The candidates should be able to establish and maintain good working relationships with team members
  • The candidates should have a working knowledge of the objectives, organization, procedures, services, and resources of the library, sufficient to refer patrons appropriately

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have some experience in a library setting and good customer service skills
  • The candidates should have a good working knowledge of business English, spelling, punctuation, and arithmetic and good oral and written communication skills

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to sort and shelve a variety of library materials, ensuring they are organized and accessible to patrons
  • The candidates should be able to maintain order and cleanliness in public areas, ensuring a welcoming environment for library visitors
  • The candidates should be able to assist with the preparation of books and materials, supporting the processing and sorting tasks
  • The candidates should be able to assist with circulation desk duties, ensuring timely checkouts, returns, and customer service
  • The candidates should be able to meet the library’s established strategic objectives and service standards, contributing to the overall success of the library
  • The candidates should be able to demonstrate conduct that adheres to library policies, procedures, and the organization’s vision, mission, and values
  • The candidates should be able to work collaboratively within their team and across the library system to ensure that service priorities are effectively met
