Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Geography, Political Science, Environmental Design, Public Administration, Architecture, or Landscape Architecture
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to extract, organize, and summarize data and narrative information from various sources
  • The candidates should have the ability to communicate effectively and build relationships with City staff, elected officials, and members of the public

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have some experience in fields related to urban planning and development, including working with community organizations, the volunteer sector, the post-secondary sector, and government bodies
  • The candidates should have experience with event coordination and project management and possess considerable knowledge in fields related to urban planning and development
  • The candidates should have considerable knowledge of civic affairs and urban issues and demonstrate considerable knowledge of basic research techniques and relevant information sources
  • The candidates should have considerable knowledge of database and presentation software capabilities for data extraction, manipulation, and presentation
  • The candidates should possess excellent writing and communication skills to create agendas, minutes, briefs, reports, and articles for general interest and media and strong administrative and financial skills

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to organize all VCPC regular meetings and sub-committee meetings, including organizing speakers and presentations, setting agendas, and recording and distributing motions and minutes
  • The candidates should be able to coordinate VCPC research, projects, and events effectively and prepare reports, budgets, program materials, and communications
  • The candidates should be able to communicate with elected officials, City staff, and other Civic Agencies, maintaining relations with external organizations and the public
  • The candidates should be able to administer VCPC resources, finances, equipment, and suppliers efficiently and maintain the VCPC website and ensure content accuracy
  • The candidates should be able to provide administrative support, including meeting coordination, agendas, and minutes, for additional planning Committees and perform other duties and responsibilities
