Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of accredited nursing program
Experience: Candidates should have Two years of experience working as a nurse

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be available to work alternating work days, including statutory holidays, with shifts ranging from 0915-1715 to 1245-2045
  • The candidates should have flexibility in their rest days, which may include combinations such as Sun or Mon, Mon or Tues
  • The candidates should be capable of lifting weights up to 10 kg 22 lbs

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have a current license in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in the province
  • The candidates should possess certification in First Aid and CPR and previous experience as a preceptor or with coaching others
  • The candidates should have technical skills including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook, and the ability to learn new systems and programs

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to conduct registration and confidential screening of donors to determine eligibility, ensuring a positive donor experience
  • The candidates should be able to provide donors with information, instructions, and advice on blood donation using excellent people skills
  • The candidates should be able to coach and provide consultation to donor centre staff, acting as a team lead for collection events
  • The candidates should be able to work effectively in a diverse team environment, assisting in the collection of whole blood and apheresis blood components
  • The candidates should be able to assist in setting up booths, tables, and equipment at mobile events within communities to ensure donor clinics are properly prepared for use
