Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language

Experience: Candidates should have at least 3 years experience in journalism

- The candidates should have the ability to generate original, enterprise journalism
- The candidates should have the ability to cultivate and develop working relationships with a large pool of sources and contacts
- The candidates should have the ability to collaborate with colleagues to develop and break stories, plan features, and coordinate long-term coverage
- The candidates should have flexibility with hours of work and willingness to learn and take on new tasks across all CBC platforms
- The candidates should have sound news judgement and the ability to work effectively under newsroom deadline pressure
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have proficiency in English (First Official Language), English (Reading), English (Speaking), and English (Writing)
- The candidates should have the ability to generate, pitch, and pursue strong, creative story ideas
- The candidates should have deep knowledge and connection to Indigenous communities in Atlantic Canada
- The candidates should have a strong desire to live and promote the values of diversity and an inclusive and respectful work culture
- The candidates should have strong communication and interpersonal skills; be a strong team player
- The candidates having the ability to report for all media platforms and working knowledge of digital news including social media
- The candidates should possess a valid driver’s licence as well as a driving record that meets the minimum requirements of CBC/Radio-Canada’s insurance company
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to be deeply connected to Indigenous communities located in Atlantic Canada with a passion for storytelling
- The candidates should be able to be creative, strong critical thinkers with in-depth knowledge of Indigenous stories and issues
- The candidates should be able to produce original journalism, write stories for online platforms, and deliver content for television and radio broadcasts
- The candidates should be able to demonstrate and maintain exceptional skills in writing in a clear and concise manner
- The candidates should be able to ensure that all CBC journalistic standards are met and that stories are fair, balanced, accurate, thoughtful, immediate, and resonate with the communities served by CBC Indigenous
