Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have 3 years of progressive accounting experience at a senior level within a medium to large organization
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have experience implementing change and improving existing systems and processes
- The candidates should hold a CPA designation, be actively pursuing a CPA, or possess a related accounting designation
- The candidates should have a strong background in the practical application of ASC 606 Revenue Recognition principles or IFRS 15
- The candidates should have advanced experience with MS Excel and demonstrate strong systems aptitude and experience in SQL, Alteryx, and BI tools as a bonus
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to serve as the subject matter expert in revenue recognition, ensuring accurate presentation in accordance with US GAAP and company policies
- The candidates should be able to prepare deferred revenue annual budgets and assist in creating quarterly and annual financial reporting disclosure schedules
- The candidates should be able to handle accounting activities related to Best Buy Membership offerings, deferred revenue calculations, gift card breakage analysis, customer delivery margins, and Marketplace seller services programs
- The candidates should be able to perform various month-end calculations, maintain accuracy, and analyze large volumes of complex data
- The candidates should be able to prepare and maintain schedules, templates, and data models specific to their area of accounting
- The candidates should be able to execute periodic reviews of key assumptions and update revenue recognition model inputs for Best Buy Membership offerings and gift card breakage
- The candidates should be able to review revenue contracts to ensure appropriate revenue recognition in line with ASC 606 and the company’s revenue recognition policies
- The candidates should be able to conduct US GAAP research on complex accounting topics, such as revenue recognition, vendor funding, and leases, and draft accounting position memos
- The candidates should be able to work proactively across multiple business units to deliver informed results and identify opportunities for improvement
