Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should have demonstrated ability to work as a team member with superior verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated ability to deal effectively with co-workers and customers
- The candidates should demonstrate flexibility to work in a rapidly changing environment with competing schedules and deadlines and the ability to exercise some independence of judgment and action in the routine or simple aspects of the work
- The candidates should have the ability to courteously answer questions and deal with the public and sufficient physical strength, stamina, and coordination to perform heavy physical labor and lift, push, and pull heavy objects
- The candidates should have the ability to walk or stand continuously with frequent bending or twisting and the ability to work outside in all weather conditions and on uneven surfaces
- The candidates should have the ability to use a variety of tools and equipment and proven ability to disassemble and reassemble tires and rims safely and efficiently
- The candidates should have proven ability to repair and service a variety of tires for vehicles and equipment, while maintaining routine notes on work orders and other clerical records
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have supplemented by several years of experience and courses related to the equipment tire industry, tire inventory management, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- The candidates should possess a valid Forklift Operator certificate or the ability to obtain one and sound knowledge of standard practices, methods, tools, materials, and equipment used in the tire industry
- The candidates should have considerable knowledge of current tire repair methods, materials, and tools and knowledge of hazards and proper safety aspects of the tire industry
- The candidates should have skill in the use and care of tools essential for tire repair and servicing and skill in the operation of various vehicles and exercise considerable judgment and skill when dealing with all aspects of the tire repair process
- The candidates should possess a current and valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License and a satisfactory National Safety Code driving record and no more than 2 infractions in 2 years or no more than 4 points in 2 consecutive years
- The candidates should have no more than 2 preventable work-related driving or equipment operating accidents in any single year
- The candidates should be prepared for their application to be reviewed in more detail if they do not demonstrate a satisfactory driving record
- The candidates should attach the following to be considered, Commercial Driving Records Abstract (N Print) for the past 3 years and Insurance and Claims History for the past 3 years
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to strip, repair, assemble, and replace a variety of tires, wheels, and rims from light-duty vehicles, medium/heavy-duty trucks, and OTR (Off The Road Tires) equipment
- The candidates should be able to follow safety procedures and identify and correct safety hazards and handle customer service requests and complaints in a timely manner
- The candidates should be able to communicate with the Garage Control Centre to create and maintain Work Order records
- The candidates should be able to aid in the control of Tire Shop mounted and repaired stock inventories, including servicing tires with calcium chloride solution and performing related tasks and perform other related tasks
