Town of Ajax based in Lake, ON is inviting applications from suitable candidates for the position of 2023 Camp Specialist, Wilderness Skills Specialist – Summer Camp. Salary: $16.16 to $16.70 per hour for 8 hours per day

Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates having standard educational qualification such as currently enrolled in or completed relevant post-secondary education (university/college) in Outdoor Recreation an asset
Experience: Candidates need experience the experience details are mentioned below
Other Requirements:
- The candidate should have a minimum of two (2) years’ experience working with children also have knowledge and experience related to the delivery of programs and services
- The candidate should have minimum 1 year experience in outdoor programming (e.g. Scouting/Girl Guides) also have an excellent organization, time management and planning skills
- The candidate should be self-motivated, positive, confident and approachable also have the ability to work with minimal supervision
- The candidate should have strong oral and written communication skills also Standard First Aid with CPR C (If hired, must be obtained by June 26, 2023)
- The candidate should be able to work with the Principles of Healthy Child Development (If hired, must be obtained by June 26, 2023) also have the ability to provide a current (within six months) Criminal Reference/Vulnerable Sector Check upon being hired
- The candidate having Wilderness First Aid Certification, Wilderness Survival Courses preferred and Hike Leader Certification is preferred
Responsibilities:
- The candidate should be responsible for the planning and implementation of safe and varied specialized Outdoor/Wilderness programming for campers also plan and implements a comprehensive specialized program designed to provide progressive learning for campers
- The candidate should be able to implement a safe, age appropriate, enjoyable and diversified camp program as developed in coordination with the Camp Supervisor and staff also guide and trains staff with innovative and dynamic outdoor/wilderness program ideas
- The candidate should be able to provide direction and ensures involvement of Counselors during specialty times also monitor supply inventory for area of specialty throughout the summer
- The candidate should be able to ensure the safety and well-being of all campers during camp hours also interact with program participants in a manner that reflects the HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development
- The candidate should be able to lead groups of program participants also create an environment where participants strive to participate fully, perform the best of their ability, and learn new skills
- The candidate should be able to act as a positive role model for program participants and other team members also interact with the public on a regular basis, and promotes Town programs to customers
