Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of complete Grade 10
Experience: Candidates should have 1 year of customer service experience

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be physically capable of lifting food, supplies, and equipment up to 46lbs and should be able to push/pull meal carts up to 250lbs
  • The candidates should be able to walk and stand on their feet for the duration of the shift

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have basic knowledge of and experience with computer applications
  • The candidates should be able to attend 1 and 2 days of Patient Food Services new employee orientation
  • The candidates should have 1 year of food service experience and experience in a hospital or long-term care environment
  • The candidates should have experience with inventory management, receiving deliveries, managing expiry dates, and minimizing waste using “First In – First Out” procedures
  • The candidates should have experience with Commercial Food Service Equipment, possess Food Safe Certification or equivalent and WHMIS training

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to perform a variety of routine tasks associated with basic food preparation in accordance with AHS standards and procedures
  • The candidates should be able to package and portion food items accurately, ensuring consistency with portion sizes
  • The candidates should be able to prepare food according to set guidelines and menus, maintaining food quality and safety
  • The candidates should be able to serve meals to patients and customers, ensuring proper presentation and portion control
  • The candidates should be able to clean and sanitize equipment, dishes, tables, and serving areas to meet hygiene standards
