Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of Lifesaving Society Bronze Cross certification
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be a minimum of 15 years of age

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have a current Lifesaving Society Swim Instructors certification or the ability to obtain it within 1 month of the date of hire and current Standard First Aid or CPR C certification from an accredited organization or the ability to obtain it within 1 month of the date of hire
  • The candidates should have a current Lifesaving Society Lifesaving Instructor and Lifesaving Society Emergency First Aid Instructor certification and exceptional customer service and communication skills
  • The candidates should have the HIGH FIVE® Principles of Healthy Child Development or Sport Certification, or the ability to obtain it within 2 months of the date of hire
  • The candidates should have a current Lifesaving Society Swim Instructors certification or the ability to obtain it within 1 month of the date of hire
  • The candidates should have a current Lifesaving Society Lifesaving Instructor and Lifesaving Society Emergency First Aid Instructor certification
  • The candidates should have a current National Lifeguard – Pool certification or the ability to obtain it within 1 month of the date of hire
  • The candidates should have a current Lifesaving Society Airway Management certification or the ability to obtain it within 1 month of the date of hire

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to plan, organize, and deliver high-quality, safe, and engaging swimming lessons for all levels of participants
  • The candidates should be able to maintain complete vigilance while on duty and be ready to respond to any emergency situation and provide a high level of customer service, including greeting and engaging with participants
  • The candidates should be able to supervise volunteers and participants and ensure their safety at all times and attend meetings and training
  • The candidates should be able to complete administrative duties in a timely manner, such as attendance, incident or accident reports, and opening and closing procedures
  • The candidates should be able to ensure participants meet the minimum requirements of the Aquatic Admission Standards during all swims and ensure proper zone coverage and guard station positioning
  • The candidates should be able to provide a high level of customer service, including greeting and engaging with participants
  • The candidates should be able to communicate with participants regarding swimming lesson opportunities and accident prevention
  • The candidates should be able to maintain a safe and tidy program space, ensuring equipment is set up and stored appropriately
  • The candidates should be able to report all concerns, accidents, and incidents to the immediate supervisor for follow-up and take appropriate action and maintain an understanding of department programs and services
  • The candidates should be able to understand, adhere to, and enforce Corporate Policies and Procedures, Confidentiality Guidelines, Emergency Procedures, and Health and Safety Standards for all participants and staff
