Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language

Experience: Candidates should have 3 to 5 years of experience in safety compliance
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be able to set direction and inspire others, communicate effectively and with impact, demonstrate agility and drive change, possess general Microsoft computer skills and the ability to conduct investigations after an accident
- The candidates should be able to travel regularly (up to 50%) across their assigned territory, sometimes with little advance notice
- The candidates should be able to meet tight deadlines, handle pressure and stress, and respond to unexpected and emergency situations
- The candidates should be able to lift up to 70 lbs and work in both office and outdoor environments, adapting to various weather and environmental conditions, with irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have experience troubleshooting and problem-solving and relevant work experience in similar working conditions or in a regulatory or safety environment
- The candidates should have experience in budget management experience in labour and relations, including interpreting collective agreements, responding to grievances, negotiating with union representatives, and managing discipline
- The candidates should have experience supervising a unionized workforce and possess a High School Diploma or General Education Development
- The candidates should have a valid Driver’s License, be certified in Railroad Operating Signals and lead by example for the safety and security of all
- The candidates should consider Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles in all operations
- The candidates should identify potential safety and security risks, demonstrate active listening skills and solve problems to create value
- The candidates should focus on developing themselves and others, delegate and empower others to create accountability and collaborate with others and share information
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to lead engineering operations as outlined in CN’s operating plan and supervise and lead activities of track gangs, track employees, and hi-rail operations
- The candidates should be able to handle engineering operations, ensuring compliance with safe work procedures, Transport Canada guidelines, and CN standards, policies, and regulations
- The candidates should be able to lead people with clear direction and goals, while providing coaching and guidance through regular performance monitoring
- The candidates should be able to apply collective agreement and company policies by conducting investigations, recommending corrective actions, and responding to grievances
- The candidates should be able to oversee budgets and workforce productivity within CN policies and the Five Guiding Principles and ensure clear communication of track condition and daily production information to senior management in order to adjust
- The candidates should be able to ensure the safety of the track through regulatory inspections and input findings into the Track Inspection System (TIS) to monitor track condition
- The candidates should be able to follow up on reported track issues to ensure compliance with standards
- The candidates should be able to participate in activities related to derailments and disruptions in service, while working with Transportation and Mechanical to establish cause and future prevention
- The candidates should be able to perform safety audits for the unionized workforce and conduct safety engagements and plan, schedule, and perform track repairs and maintenance and respond to emergencies
