Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates don’t need experience although having experience is an asset
Type of industry experience: Food and beverages
Credentials: Safe Food Handling Certificate, Serving It Right Certificate, and First Aid Certificate

Physical Requirements:

• The candidates should be able to work in a fast-paced environment, work under pressure, and perform physically demanding tasks
• The candidates should be able to stand for extended periods

Responsibilities:

• The candidates should be able to arrange the bar area to make attractive displays, organize the operations of a cocktail lounge or bar, and perform short order cooking and food preparation
• The candidates should be able to clean the bar area and wash glassware, serve food or snacks, and clean the draft beer system
• The candidates should be able to advise on wine selection, provide recommendations on drink selections, and collect cash, credit/debit cards, or other payment for beverages
• The candidates should be able to operate the cash register, record and balance beverage sales, and store beverage and food products
• The candidates should be able to order bar stock and maintain inventory and control of bar stock, address customers’ complaints or concerns, and enforce provincial/territorial liquor legislation and regulations
• The candidates should be able to prepare mixed drinks, wine, draft or bottled beer, and non-alcoholic beverages, take beverage orders from serving staff or directly from patrons, and resolve conflict situations
