Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education:Â Candidates should have Graduation from a recognized School of Pharmacy
Experience: Candidates should have Previous hospital pharmacy experience
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should occasionally lift objects less than 10 lbs and should regularly stand or walk when performing activities
- The candidates should constantly use fine finger/precision work using hand tools, where visual concentration is required to read and interpret drug orders, calculate dosages, ensure medications are dispensed properly, read clinical studies, drug monographs, patient-specific laboratory results, and to inspect and check drug amounts/preparations
- The candidates should maintain a high level of alertness and concentration for this work
- The candidates should be prepared to work under tight time pressures with a lack of control over the work pace
- The candidates should regularly prepare compounds or dispense toxic drugs, IV mixtures, etc., and when performing this activity, be constantly exposed to hazardous chemicals
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have current licensure and be in good standing with the Newfoundland and Labrador Pharmacy Board and should possess a Doctor of Pharmacy Degree
- The candidates should have completed a hospital residency program and should demonstrate specialized clinical pharmacy services as defined by the site, such as pharmacokinetic/therapeutic drug evaluations/monitoring and anticoagulation assessment/monitoring
- The candidates should demonstrate the ability to integrate and evaluate pertinent data to problem-solve and make decisions effectively and should exhibit critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills using a systems approach
- The candidates should demonstrate the ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary environment and provide clinical consultation and should have the ability to work autonomously, prioritizing patient needs
- The candidates should demonstrate effective communication, both verbally and in writing, with co-workers, patients, and their families and should possess strong written and oral communication skills as well as the ability to deliver/facilitate effective presentations
- The candidates should have proven analytical, collaboration, and organizational skills and should demonstrate the ability to provide direction, supervision, mentorship, and training to Pharmacy Technicians/students and Pharmacy students
- The candidates should have a proven ability to assume professional responsibility for safe, ethical, and effective practice
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to participate in both drug distribution activities and clinical services
- The candidates should be able to work in an interdisciplinary team setting to optimize patient outcomes by enhancing the efficacy and safety of pharmacotherapy
- The candidates should be able to effectively manage multi-disease states and complex pharmacotherapy regimens
- The candidates should be able to serve as a preceptor to Pharmacy students and provide ongoing pharmacotherapy education to a variety of healthcare professionals and students both informally and through formal presentations
- The candidates should be able to participate in committees and relevant working groups as required
- The candidates should be able to fulfill the expectation of being on-call and providing relief to other areas as needed
