Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education:Â Candidates should have completion of University Degree in Social Work
Experience: Candidates should have minimum 3 years of experience working in acute mental health sector, preferably in the community
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be comfortable working on the phone and in person in potentially high-risk and stressful situations
- The candidates should have the ability to work 12-hour shifts on a rotational schedule, including days, overnights, weekends, and public holidays
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should possess a BSc. Nursing or a degree in Occupational Therapy and a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Screening (Police Check) report
- The candidates should be a Regulated Health Professional (Registered Nurse, Registered Psychotherapist, Registered Occupational Therapist) or Registered Social Worker and adhere to standards of practice as per the designated college. Alternatively, they should be eligible and willing to become a regulated health professional or Registered Social Worker within the first 6 months of employment
- The candidates should possess knowledge of risk assessments, suicide prevention, and principles of crisis theory and intervention and experience with crisis intervention techniques and theory-based practice in working with the seriously mentally ill, including a good understanding of the Mental Health Act and DSM V as it relates to crisis
- The candidates should have experience intervening effectively in clinical situations requiring the management of disturbed behavior and fluency in a second language, including ASL (American Sign Language)
- The candidates should have strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to approach, listen, build trust, and communicate across diverse cultures and intersectionality are necessary. They should also demonstrate willingness to continually improve understanding around cultural competence and Operating from an anti-racist, anti-oppressive, 2SLGBTQ+ affirming, and intersectional framework is essential
- The candidates should be willing to learn and apply practical understanding of different elements of diversity, such as gender identity, expression, race or cultural background, religion, sexual orientation, disability, immigration and precarious status and family status
- The candidates should provide proof of administered full-series Health Canada approved COVID-19 vaccination prior to the start date. If unable to be vaccinated for reasons relating to protected grounds under the Code, they must provide a completed medical or religious exemption
- The candidates should have possession of a valid Canadian driver’s license and access to an insured automobile in good repair
