Salary: $16.00 to $30.00 hourly (To be negotiated) for 10 to 35 hours per week

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates don’t need experience although having experience is an asset
Area of specialization: Children with a mental health disability, children with a physical disability, children with an intellectual disability, children with behavioural issues, children with allergies, children with asthma, children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) or attention deficit disorder (ADD)
Credentials: Child development assistant (ECE level 1), child development supervisor (ECE level 3), child development worker (ECE level 2), Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate, First Aid Certificate, CPR Certificate
Security and safety: Criminal record check, Child Abuse Registry check, and vulnerable sector check

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be comfortable working outdoors and in noisy environments
  • The candidates should be non-smoking
  • The candidates should be comfortable working in air-conditioned environments
  • The candidates should be prepared for repetitive tasks and demonstrate attention to detail in their work
  • The candidates should be physically capable of handling demanding tasks, including bending, crouching, and kneeling as needed
  • The candidates should be comfortable with a combination of sitting, standing, walking, and performing bending, crouching, and kneeling as required for the job

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to assess children’s development and prepare tailored learning plans
  • The candidates should assist co-workers in housekeeping, cooking duties, and maintaining records
  • The candidates should develop and implement child-care programs supporting physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development
  • The candidates should synthesize children’s overall situations and communicate information to parents or guardians
  • The candidates should assist early childhood educators in promoting children’s holistic development
  • The candidates should lead activities such as storytelling, song teaching, and local outings
  • The candidates should encourage children’s creativity through art, play, music, and physical activities
  • The candidates should engage children in activities like storytelling, song teaching, and crafts preparation
  • The candidates should guide children in developing proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits
  • The candidates should observe children for signs of learning or behavioral issues and prepare reports
  • The candidates should submit written observations on children to educators or supervisors
  • The candidates should be knowledgeable about licensing regulations
  • The candidates should attend staff meetings to discuss children’s progress and challenges
