Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education:Â Candidates should hold a college diploma in Networking, Electronics and Electrical
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of experience in the telecommunications field
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be able to lift equipment weighing up to 40 lbs and work independently with minimal supervision
- The candidates should be organized, self-motivated, and able to prioritize multiple tasks, solve problems, and maintain a schedule
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should possess strong problem-solving and resolution skills and computer skills in MS-Office, VISIO, Outlook, text editors, and other relevant software
- The candidates should have sound knowledge of IP and network architecture, including setup, troubleshooting, and maintenance
- The candidates should have a strong understanding of digital broadcast, RF, and video technology and a valid driver’s license
- The candidates should be knowledgeable about relevant Rogers Engineering and Operations processes
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to respond to trouble reports on the core transport and cable access network by conducting efficient problem analysis, rapid troubleshooting, diagnosis, and prompt equipment repair to meet service restoration objectives and complete assigned incident tickets and participate in postmortem incident root cause evaluations
- The candidates should be able to collaborate with the network operations center and platform teams to resolve network faults and perform directed maintenance routines to ensure network standards are consistently met
- The candidates should be able to implement change work orders related to network equipment changes or additions within the headend and troubleshoot fiber optic network failures and assess potential impacts of broken links from the headend
- The candidates should be able to maintain an inventory of spare equipment and test tools, and request replenishment, perform acceptance tests on newly installed equipment provided by third-party contractors
- The candidates should be able to complete administrative tasks including training, mileage reporting, timesheets, and expense submissions, install, commission, maintain, repair, and restore equipment and services
- The candidates should be able to participate in the development and continuous improvement of processes related to Faults Management, Preventive Maintenance, Change Control, Head End or Site audits, and other relevant procedures
- The candidates should be able to support the UTRAN (Wireless) network, including backhaul, macro, small cell, and indoor sites and equipment and install and troubleshoot hub site and customer premise equipment to support business products and services
- The candidates should be able to ensure all documentation for services, equipment, and facilities is updated and perform tasks according to established procedures and standards, recording and reporting work activities as required by the department
- The candidates should be able to work with various departments and participate on cross-functional teams and manage a diverse workload effectively and oversee contractor activities and travel to sites within their designated area of responsibility and available to work nonstandard shifts, including weekdays, weekends, overnight shifts, and provide 24-hour on-call support on a rotational basis
- The candidates should be able to adhere to all Health and Safety regulations in accordance with legislation and company policies and perform fieldwork across diverse environments such as rooftops and remote areas, at any time of day, and in all weather conditions
