Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education:Â Candidates should have educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have 6 – 10 years of progressive experience in health and safety

Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to develop, implement, and maintain the Company’s Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) programs, policies, systems, and reports for the Heritage Plant and able to ensure legislative and Plant compliance with environmental monitoring and reporting, site security, and occupational health and safety programs
- The candidates should be able to assist in the development of environmental procedures, training, and assessing/controlling risk to the environment and able to act as the primary daily site security contact and support site proximity and surveillance programs for food defense and personnel safety
- The candidates should be able to standardize safe work methods and recognize high impact behaviors to support municipal and provincial requirements and keep people and operations secure from threats and able to support wastewater pretreatment facility and environmental management programs, including the Environmental Emergency management (E2) Plan and associated drills and activities
- The candidates should be able to supervise the Security team and provide support on proximity software and site access control, including creating new badges and maintaining the proximity software WINPAK
- The candidates should be able to review and monitor on-site Contractor OHS programs and compliance with applicable regulations
- The candidates should be able to assist and lead in the reduction of Health and Safety risks and hazards through continuous improvement projects
- The candidates should be able to support Operations in all Safety related functions, including but not limited to onboarding, work refusals, return to work, safety talks and messages, recognition, data analysis, coaching, employee service investigations, pre-start health and safety reviews, equipment processes and modifications, and participate in meetings
- The candidates should be able to ensure Pre-Start Health and Safety Reviews (PHSRs) are properly completed including written reports to ensure compliance
- The candidates should be able to develop tools for identifying workplace hazards and develop plant-wide systems that support hazard recognition, including an effective Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) program
- The candidates should be able to respond to all serious incidents to ensure that proper investigation and follow-up is completed
- The candidates should be able to oversee the maintenance and improvement of the site Fire Protection systems, including early warning and suppression systems
- The candidates should be able to recommend procedures to improve safety in the workplace and to comply with applicable legislation
- The candidates should be able to conduct workplace inspections and hazard assessments, including safeguarding and lockout
- The candidates should be able to maintain OHS metrics and documentation and present this information to applicable parties
- The candidates should be able to support the implementation and monitoring of the OHS Management system and associated business OHS programs
