Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a post-secondary degree
Experience: Candidates should have three to five years of supervisory experience, preferably in a manufacturing setting

Physical Requirements:

• The candidates should demonstrate flexibility to work various shifts and overtime
• The candidates should be self-directed and professional, with well-developed English communication skills (verbal, written and reading)

Other Requirements:

• The candidates should have diploma from an occupational health and safety, industrial hygiene program, or disability management
• The candidates should have strong problem-solving and organizational skills and strong interpersonal, leadership, verbal and written communication, presentation, and analytical skills
• The candidates should have computer proficiency in email and spreadsheets and be able to learn various other software, such as SAP and Kronos

Responsibilities:

• The candidates should be able to ensure compliance in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) program activities, including WHMIS/MSDS, machine guarding, lockout/tagout, fall prevention or protection, contractor management, mobile equipment, and compliance observations
• The candidates should be able to monitor departmental safety meetings and advise employees on legislated and industry changes
• The candidates should be able to create, audit, and monitor compliance with new or existing Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Safe Work Procedures (SWP), and Physical Demands Analysis (PDA) in collaboration with supervisors and employees
• The candidates should be able to develop, deliver, and audit New Hire and Contractor Orientations and follow up with supervisors and senior supervisors regarding accident and incident investigation reports, particularly ensuring the effectiveness of corrective actions
• The candidates should be able to enter and classify work orders from supervisors based on safety tour reports and communicate additional information to the Maintenance Planner and promote Health and Safety plans, goals, and objectives
• The candidates should be able to engage and involve workers in Health and Safety programs by ensuring compliance with active policies and procedures, conducting planned task observations, and informing supervisors if policies are not met
• The candidates should be able to communicate pertinent or emergency Health and Safety issues to the Senior Leadership Team in the absence of the Health and Safety Manager, ensuring they are informed of any claims with special circumstances
• The candidates should be able to assist in coaching and mentoring Health and Safety Coordinators by providing effective tools and practices
• The candidates should be able to provide support to the First Aid Team, supervisors, and employees during a plant emergency
