Strait Mechanical Ltd based in Fort St. John, BC is inviting applications from suitable candidates for the position of Heavy-duty equipment mechanic. Strait Mechanical Ltd is a leading mechanical contracting company known for its expertise in delivering innovative and reliable solutions. Specializing in heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), and plumbing services, the company serves both commercial and industrial clients. The candidates selected for the vacancy will be required to start the work as soon as possible.

Shifts: Day, Evening, Weekend, Overtime, Morning
Transportation information: Valid driver’s licence

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have experience of  5 years or more
Security and safety: Criminal record check, driving record check (abstract), and driver’s validity licence check

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions and be tolerant of dusty work environments
  • The candidates should be able to work in hot conditions and in noisy surroundings, demonstrating attention to detail in their work
  • The candidates should be physically fit, capable of handling physically demanding tasks, and able to bend, crouch, and kneel as part of their job requirements
  • The candidates should possess strong hand-eye coordination skills, be capable of handling heavy loads, and exhibit manual dexterity for precise and accurate work
  • The candidates should be willing to work overtime as required by job demands, be capable of discriminating between sounds, be able to stand for extended periods, and be able to lift weights of up to 23 kg (50 lbs)

  • The candidates should be accurate in their work, maintaining a high standard of precision, and prioritize client focus, ensuring positive interactions and client satisfaction
  • The candidates should demonstrate dependability, consistently fulfilling assigned tasks and responsibilities, and exhibit excellent oral communication skills in various professional settings
  • The candidates should demonstrate flexibility in adapting to changing work demands and exercise good judgment in decision-making processes
  • The candidates should be reliable, instilling confidence in their colleagues and supervisors, and be dedicated team players, fostering collaboration and cooperation

Candidate Status:

  • Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
  • Candidate must have legal authorization (Work Permit) to work in Canada
  • If Candidates are unable to fulfill above mentioned requirements, don’t apply for the position

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to troubleshoot and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions, diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine the extent of repair required, and order parts while maintaining inventory
  • The candidates should be able to adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, keep maintenance reports and documentation, and have welding experience
  • The candidates should be able to test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers’ specifications, clean, lubricate, and perform other maintenance work, and perform repair work on heavy trucks
  • The candidates should be able to service attachments and working tools, as well as verify and repair emission control systems
