Shift: 35 hours per week

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English and French Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of Master’s degree in social work, counselling
Experience: Candidates should have minimum of three years of experience in the relevant field

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to handle crises effectively
  • The candidates should be willing to work flexible hours to meet the needs of clients

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should possess another university degree relevant to the practice of counselling and psychotherapy from a recognized institution
  • The candidates should be a member in good standing of a Professional College (OCSWSSW or CRPO – Authorized for independent practice)
  • The candidates should have experience and practice in counselling and psychotherapy and possess an in-depth understanding of mental health issues
  • The candidates should possess in-depth knowledge of psychosocial assessment and counseling techniques
  • The candidates should be knowledgeable about the mental health community resources available
  • The candidates should demonstrate a commitment to working cooperatively with clients and members of the interdisciplinary team
  • The candidates should be open to the customs and habits of other cultures and possess excellent organization and interpersonal skills
  • The candidates should have excellent knowledge of oral and written English and French language skills and knowledge and ability to use basic computer software
  • The candidates should have access to a motor vehicle and hold a valid Ontario driver’s license

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to provide assessment and individual mental health intervention services to clients of primary care providers in independent practice in the Niagara Region
  • The candidates should be able to actively participate in case discussions and service planning with internal and external partners and develop intervention plans with clients based on their individual
  • The candidates should be able to contribute to the design and implementation of new programs aimed at meeting clients’ needs in the community, including needs assessment, promotion, and client recruitment
  • The candidates should be able to participate in internal and community initiatives and committees focused on improving the quality of life for clients with mental health issues and organize activities aimed at raising awareness of mental health issues in the community
  • The candidates should be able to contribute to the development and application of intervention models that ensure the delivery of quality services, utilizing recognized clinical approaches
  • The candidates should be able to establish and maintain effective liaisons with community agencies to improve access to appropriate services for clients in a timely manner and prepare reports, maintain records, and compile program statistics
  • The candidates should be able to actively participate in team meetings, staff meetings, and other relevant meetings and engage in clinical supervision, both individual and group, as part of ongoing professional development
  • The candidates should be able to perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor to support the effective operation of the mental health services
