Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the French and English Language
Education:Â Candidates should have completion of Master’s degree in social work and counselling
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of three years of experience in the relevant field
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be willing to work flexible hours to meet the needs of clients
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have a bachelor’s or other university degree relevant to the practice of counselling and psychotherapy from a recognized institution
- The candidates should be a member in good standing of a Professional College (OCSWSSW or CRPO) or in the process of registration
- The candidates should have an in-depth understanding of mental health and addiction issues
- The candidates should have the ability to refer children with mental health and addiction problems to appropriate services
- The candidates should be knowledgeable about the mental health community resources available
- The candidates should demonstrate a commitment to working cooperatively with clients and members of the interdisciplinary team
- The candidates should be open to the customs and habits of other cultures and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- The candidates should have excellent knowledge of oral and written French and English and knowledge and ability to use basic computer software
- The candidates should have access to a motor vehicle and hold a valid Ontario driver’s license
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to process applications to the child and youth mental health program following established procedures and assess strengths and needs of children, youth, and parents using questionnaires or standardized assessment tools such as the CHMYN, including monitoring and closure
- The candidates should be able to provide counselling, education, and support services to maintain and promote emotional, social, behavioural, and relationship functioning and wellbeing in daily life contexts and prepare service plans for children and youth based on available reports, initial parent or youth meetings, CHMYN assessments, and other assessment tools
- The candidates should be able to consult with the clinical manager during the probation period and as per professional college requirements and conduct case presentations to the mental health team with the clinical manager following established procedures
- The candidates should be able to develop and regularly review service plans and ensure evaluation of all client interventions following file closure and document the results and complete summary reports prior to file transfer and closure of interventions
- The candidates should be able to refer families or youth to specialized services and deliver psychoeducational programs in response to received requests and support families, children, and youth requiring specialized services
- The candidates should be able to ensure that approaches and programs recommended in service plans are evidence-based and coordinate case management when other partners or agencies are involved with the client’s file as per established procedures
- The candidates should be able to organize workshops and activities to raise awareness about mental health issues and develop and facilitate educational and support groups for children, adolescents, and their parents based on client
- The candidates should be able to communicate information about external committee activities to the mental health team and represent the Centre’s clients’ needs by serving on community tables or committees
- The candidates should be able to prepare reports and maintain records and liaise with and refer to community agencies to enhance access to French language services and maintain program statistics for evaluation and research purposes
- The candidates should be able to promote health in the francophone community by aiming for comprehensive community health development encompassing all aspects of individuals’ lives
