Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of Grade 12 education
Experience: Candidates should have One year’s related experience with an emphasis on public contact and mechanical work

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to work effectively with mechanical equipment
  • The candidates should have the ability to deal tactfully and effectively with employees, team members, and the public
  • The candidates should be able to organize and relay detailed information clearly and concisely both orally and in writing to meter shop staff and the public
  • The candidates should have the physical ability to perform the assigned duties and ability to organize job duties and work unsupervised

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have knowledge of safety policies and procedures and valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver’s Licence
  • The candidates should have knowledge of basic building construction, such as wiring, plumbing, and framing
  • The candidates should possess or have the ability to obtain a valid, recognized first aid certificate
  • The candidates should provide an acceptable current Criminal Record Check (CRC) and Vulnerable Sector Search (VSS) upon an offer of employment

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to install one inch and smaller water meters for new service applications
  • The candidates should be able to perform routine changes of water meters in residential, commercial, and industrial premises
  • The candidates should be able to program water meters and install wiring for remote meter interrogation
  • The candidates should be able to perform activation and de-activation of water meters and perform minor plumbing repairs
  • The candidates should be able to operate and maintain service vehicles and meter installation equipment
  • The candidates should be able to maintain meter and spare parts stock inventory of service vehicles and remove small summer line service meters
  • The candidates should be able to complete daily service records, work orders, and other required reports
  • The candidates should be able to provide meter and meter remote failure diagnostics and repairs
  • The candidates should be able to perform a public relations function to address installer requirements and customer concern
