Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have educational qualifications such as Bachelor’s or master’s degree in physical therapy
Experience: Candidates should have experience as a Physiotherapist, providing assessment and treatment preferably in a long term care environment

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should have exposure to animals in the Pet Therapy Program
  • The candidates should be aware of the potential for second-hand smoke exposure
  • The candidates should be aware of potential exposure to latex products
  • The candidates should travel within the territory, including travel to and from communities

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have experience working in rural communities and should possess strong assessment skills
  • The candidates should have the ability to develop, implement, and evaluate individual and group programs and demonstrate excellent interpersonal, conflict management, and communication skills
  • The candidates should be able to work both independently and within an interdisciplinary team of health care professionals
  • The candidates should have Strong organizational and time management skills for managing a diverse caseload
  • The candidates should be able to work in a multicultural environment, with an emphasis on Yukon First Nation’s culture
  • The candidates should have completed TB screening, WHMIS 2015 certification, CPR C AED certification, and an RCMP vulnerable sector check
  • The candidates should possess a valid class 5 driver’s license and should be licensed to work in Yukon as a Physiotherapist

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to provide clinical care services for clients requiring therapy services for Long Term Care and able to conduct client assessments to evaluate their physical and psycho-social disabilities
  • The candidates should be able to develop comprehensive care plans tailored to individual clients to enhance, maintain, or restore their ability to function at an optimal level in all chosen roles
  • The candidates should be able to provide professional physiotherapy services, including treatment/interventions, to clients of all ages with a broad range of physical and psycho-social disabilities
  • The candidates should be able to work collaboratively with other health professionals and community partners to ensure holistic care for clients
  • The candidates should be able to build positive working relationships with key stakeholders based on mutual trust and respect
  • The candidates should be able to maintain accurate and up-to-date client records and documentation related to therapy services provided
  • The candidates should be able to stay informed about current developments and best practices in physiotherapy to provide evidence-based care to clients
  • The candidates should be able to adhere to professional standards, ethical guidelines, and regulatory requirements in the provision of physiotherapy services
  • The candidates should be able to communicate effectively with clients, their families, and other members of the healthcare team to ensure coordinated care and optimal outcomes
