Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education:Â Candidates should have completion of a hospital-based or other recognized paramedical or emergency medical technology program
Experience: Candidates should have recent experience providing pre-hospital emergency and non-emergency medical treatment and transportation
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be prepared for shift work, including weekends and standby, and travel to communities (up to 70% travel)
- The candidates should be able to wear a uniform and meet the physical requirements of the job, including lifting up to 50 lbs., exposure to high stress, sensitive situations, and verbally and physically aggressive behavior, as well as working in awkward positions indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
- The candidates should be capable of working both independently and in a team environment
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and conflict management skills
- The candidates should exhibit patient advocacy skills and demonstrate tact and diplomacy and CPR-HCP and current valid certification
- The candidates should have experience working with allied agencies Police, Fire and Health Care Professionals
- The candidates should hold a valid PCP license from a paramedic governing body in Canada without conditions or restrictions (a COPR certificate will be considered equivalent at the time of hire, but candidates will have one year to obtain the license in the southern jurisdiction), medical clearance, an RCMP check with a vulnerable sector check, and a Class 4 Yukon driver’s license (or equivalent)
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to employ professional Primary Care Life Support skills to provide both pre-hospital emergency and non-emergency medical treatment to the Yukon population, ensuring timely and effective care
- The candidates should be able to assess patient conditions to formulate appropriate treatment plans and initiate necessary emergency interventions and non-emergency care to optimize patient wellbeing
- The candidates should be able to perform their duties in environments with limited medical support, demonstrating adaptability and resourcefulness in delivering high-quality care
