Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have High School (Grade 12) graduation plus an additional program of over two and up to three years in a Civil Engineering Technology, GIS or equivalent
Experience: Candidates should have over two (2) years, up to and including four (4) years related experience in municipal/road infrastructure data management and maintenance

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should possess membership or the ability to obtain membership with the Ontario Association of Certified Technicians & Technologists (OACETT)
  • The candidates should hold a valid, non-probationary Ontario class G license
  • The candidates should have a Certified Engineering Technologist designation
  • The candidates should be trained in relational database management
  • The candidates should be experienced in the use of road analysis software, spreadsheet, word processing, and database software packages
  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to organize and work effectively with other staff members of the public
  • The candidates should have exceptional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with an emphasis on customer service
  • The candidates should have the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • The candidates should possess a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

Responsibilities:

  • The candidate should be able to administer, maintain, and develop strategies for road asset inventory systems to support roadway operation and infrastructure asset management
  • The candidate should be able to administer, develop, and maintain road asset inventory systems for right of way maintenance responsibilities, utilizing applications such as DTIMS CT, Microstation, and Arc GIS
  • The candidate should be able to operate DTIMS to produce detailed reports and analysis as required and able to maintain and update graphic data and inventory mapping for road operations and provide support for measurements and identification of infrastructure asset items
  • The candidate should be able to prepare and administer contracts to undertake road and bridge condition surveys and coordinate with other City departments and external agencies regarding major rehabilitation programs
  • The candidate should be able to identify and track conflicts with other infrastructure maintenance and rehabilitation plans and liaise, communicate, and collaborate with other departments including corporate IT to provide input into user issues and assist with upgrades to network systems
  • The candidate should be able to perform priority analysis for road rehabilitation needs and other asset inventories and create strategies to improve the accuracy of road and bridge condition ratings
  • The candidate should be able to prepare reports for submission to the Public Sector Accounting Board (PSAB) on the state of road systems and other infrastructure assets and able to create alternative rehabilitation programs for various right-of-way elements based on the level of service, policy, and budget availability
  • The candidate should be able to hire, train, supervise, and schedule work for co-op students and work independently as well as part of a team
