Work setting: Child care centre, before and after school programs, and day care centre or nursery school
Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have experience of 7 months to less than 1 year
Area of specialization: Children
Credentials: Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be prepared for repetitive tasks and demonstrate attention to detail
- The candidates should be capable of handling physically demanding work and possess manual dexterity
- The candidates should be comfortable with a combination of sitting, standing, and walking, as well as bending, crouching, and kneeling
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should demonstrate punctuality and dependability, exercise good judgment and reliability, and uphold values and ethics
- The candidates should have efficient interpersonal skills and exhibit excellent oral and written communication, demonstrate flexibility and interpersonal awareness, and be team players
Candidate Status:
- Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
- Candidate must have legal authorization (Work Permit) to work in Canada

Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children, engage children in activities by storytelling, teaching songs, and preparing crafts, and provide opportunities for children to express creativity through art, dramatic play, music, and physical activity
- The candidates should be able to guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits, prepare snacks, and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods, and observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioral problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians, or supervisors
- The candidates should be able to submit written observations on children to early childhood educators or supervisors, discuss progress and problems of children at staff meetings, and attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children
- The candidates should be knowledgeable about licensing regulations, establish guidelines for behavior, and assess the abilities, interests, and needs of children and discuss progress or problems with parents and other staff members
- The candidates should be able to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children, plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children, and organize activities for school-age children in child-care programs before and after regular school hours
- The candidates should be able to supervise and coordinate activities of other early childhood educators and early childhood educator assistants
